Good things...
People (also known as 'they') often say that things come in threes. They say this about good things (good things come in threes), bad things (oh no, these things always come in threes) and alternating things (third time lucky!). Also comedic things (the rule of three) and, i suppose, movie series' (the trilogy). A triangle is said (again, by people: this time engineer people) to be the strongest geometric structure. Three seems to be such a magical number... and yet people spend their lives in search of their other half - their soulmate. Or, to cut straight to the play on words, their sole mate.
What a different world it would be if we needed two other people to make us feel complete!
Twos, threes... will the debate never end?
Thou art my heart, my love, my life;
Thou art my deepest desire.
Thou art made up of the loveliest light
that grew without spark into fire.
Thou art my love, my life, my heart;
Thou art the spark in mine eye.
Thou makest me realise, whenever apart,
that, without thou, there’s no I.
Thou are my life, my heart, my love;
Thou art a smile in disguise.
Thou art the warmth within ev’ry hug;
the dream behind wide-open eyes.
Though I have but one heart, I could love you thrice;
For thou art my heart, my love, my life.

Dawn
I'm not usually a fan of sunrise - it either occus too early or too late, depending on when you last slept.
However, there are occasions when it is a good thing. There's the obvious "dawning of a new day" cliche, but you can always start anew at around 10am when the air is not yet warm and the flies are asleep. There's also the occasional beauty that comes with it, though this is traditionally associated with sunset. I saw a beautiful sunrise a few weeks ago, whilst driving to UNSW stupidly stupidly early on a Saturday. It could have been reflecting off the water at Coogee or something, i really don't know, but the colours were gorgeous.
Things like that make me realise that every so often something completely wonderful will come along, even when the conditions don't seem right.
It's hard to predict what the day will be like before sunrise - you often dress too warm in anticipation, or completely forget your sunnies. Once the sun gets off the horizon and the air gets warmer... you realise that at 5am you really can't trust your instincts. Take a jacket - one that can be tied around your waist or even discarded. And remember your sunnies - you don't want to walk around all day with your eyes half-closed!
And hey! if all goes awry - there's always* tomorrow.
You were so sure.
You broke the rule.
You took a chance with a fool.
I was so sure,
but I wanted it too.
Give it a chance, you said.
Give you...
And here we lie,
never apart.
Arm in arm.
Heart in heart.
* tempting fate i know, but it keeps life interesting...
